Installation details
A fireplace surround needs the right backing and clearances as well as a considered finish. The appliance and slab manufacturers' requirements still apply.
Slab dimensions, available pieces and the shape of the surround affect the joint positions and vein pattern. A continuous or bookmatched appearance depends on the material selected.
The backing, adhesive and appliance clearances need to suit the particular fireplace and slab. Porcelain cladding alone does not make a design compliant or heat-safe.
Mitres or other edge treatments can finish the sides and hearth returns where the slab and design suit them. The finish still contains joints, even when the colour and pattern are closely matched.
A mantel or TV needs suitable support independent of the porcelain panel. Tell us what is planned so the tile work can be coordinated with the framing, mounting and electrical work required.

Questions answered
The slab, backing and adhesive must be suitable for the application, and the fireplace manufacturer's clearances and installation requirements still apply. Porcelain cladding alone does not make every fireplace design heat-safe.
Mitred edges can create a more continuous-looking corner where the slab and design suit that finish. A mitre is still a joint. We confirm the corner treatment after booking rather than promising an invisible seam on every material.
A TV or mantel needs suitable support behind the cladding; it must not rely on the porcelain panel alone. Tell us if one is planned so the tile work can be coordinated with the framing and mounting work required.
The appropriate thickness depends on the product, panel dimensions, support and whether it is used on a vertical face or a horizontal surface. We review the selected slab's application guidance rather than prescribing one thickness for every fireplace.
Tell us what you would like tiled, your location and the measurements of each area. We will review the details for your preliminary estimate.
