Installation details
Heat and vapour make the complete assembly important, including the ceiling and penetrations. Residential intermittent use is not the same as a continuously used commercial steam room.
The membrane, seams and penetrations need to be approved together for the intended steam application. There is no single membrane-permeance figure that should be applied to every residential system.
The ceiling design needs to follow the selected steam-shower assembly's requirements, including how condensation is directed. The tile finish does not determine that design by itself.
Tile, grout and setting materials need to suit the steam application and each other. Epoxy grout is not an automatic requirement for every enclosure and does not replace waterproofing.
Corners, fittings and other penetrations need compatible seals and movement accommodation as part of the selected steam-shower system.

Questions answered
A sloped ceiling helps direct condensation away from the person using the shower. The ceiling design follows the selected steam-shower assembly's requirements; one slope figure should not be applied to every room without checking the system.
Use a membrane and complete assembly approved for the intended steam application. Residential intermittent use and continuous-use steam rooms can have different requirements. The selected manufacturer's instructions govern the membrane, ceiling, seams and penetrations.
The tile must be suitable for the selected steam-shower application, together with the setting materials and waterproofing assembly. Porcelain can be a suitable choice. Natural stone needs product-specific consideration, including its care and maintenance requirements.
Grout must suit the tile and the steam-shower system; epoxy is not an automatic requirement for every enclosure. Follow the selected products' installation and care guidance. Grout does not replace the waterproofing and vapour-management assembly behind the tile.
